They're back!

Reusable Foodservice Towels: I first saw these things on another blog somewhere and I thought they sounded great. Well, when I went to buy them, they were no longer available. I emailed the company that manufacturer's them and they said lots of people have requested them since they were discontinued. So, back by popular demand, here they are:

I always thought it's terrible how many paper towels we go through... these are the perfect replacement. I can't wait to order some! Everyone is so into earth-friendly products right now: "Is it BPA free?" "Is it phalate free?" "Is it made from a sustainable source?" These are just some of the questions we get at work now. About a year or two ago, I had never even heard of some of this stuff. I totally understand the need for environmentally friendly products, but when it comes to worrying if formaldehyde is going to leach out of a product and harm me or my children, I tend not to worry so much. Let's not forget that I grew up secretly playing with handfuls of mercury (my father had a small glass jar of the stuff and told us never to touch it)...yes, my brother and I would pour it out into our hands and play with it... and I turned out just fine... so far! :)

Music in my mind

I always have a song running through my head...constantly. I always have! It doesn't necessarily have to be a song I like, either. Well, the past couple days, my co-worker has been taking advantage of this. She will find the most random, annoying songs and play them just so she can watch me suffer as it continues to play in my head! It all started with the theme song to The Neverending Story (one of the best movies in the entire world, by the way). I sang that in my head all day. "The Neverending storyyyyyyyy, ahhhh ahhhh ahhhhhhhhh." (I wish I could have a luck dragon, like Falcor!) Then, it was the theme song to the t.v. show Sanford and Son.... I can hear it now, "deer ner ner nerner, deer ner ner nerner nerner neer." This is why my iPod is so important to me! I take it everywhere. It's like my cell phone. If I leave the house without either one, I feel naked! I listen to a wide range of music. Billie Holiday, Jane's Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Rolling Stones, Weezer, Styx, Portishead, OutKast, Modest Mouse, Feist and the Dixie Chicks (to name a few!). Right now, my two favorites are Amy Winehouse and Mike Doughty.

This is one of my favorite photos of Amy.

Here's Mike holding one of his own pics. I actually have one of these from the last show I went to!

Pierce & Elliott

Visited my friend's kids today, Pierce and Elliott. They are so adorable! Pierce is three and Elliott is five months old.

Freaks and Geeks

My husband told me about this show called Freaks and Geeks that was on when I was a freshman in college. Believe it or not, I had not seen it. Yes....me.... the one who watches more t.v. in a month than is recommended for an average person's life time. So, we added the show to our NetFlix queue. Well... wouldn't you know, the show is awesome. I love it! It's about these kids in high school... some are freaks and some are geeks (hence the name). I think I like it so much because it reminds me of my high school days. I was not a fan of high school, to say the least. The show is hilarious. I can't believe it was cancelled. I have to have the box set!

Hello, world!

To be honest, I am not sure why I am doing this. I am not a good writer and I am probably one of the worst spellers you'll ever meet! Never the less, I just thought it would be fun to share some of my thoughts and ideas on a blog. So, here it goes!

Our little girl...

This is Bailey. She is our little girl and means the world to us! We found her at the North Carolina Schnauzer Rescue. We think she is about three years old and is a schanuzer/border terrier mix. She has the funniest sense of humor, that is, if a dog can actually have a sense of humor! When we first brought her home, she didn't know how to play with toys, she was very shy and walked with her head & tail down. Now, she hold her head high! She sleeps in her crate because otherwise she'll get up and play with her squeaky toys in the middle of the night! She really has brought so much joy into our lives. I couldn't imagine being without her. She loves to watch dog shows on t.v. Seriously! She will watch when the handler runs the dog across the floor.... but as soon as they show something else, like an uninteresting human, she looks away. Sometimes we call her "Fritos" because when she hasn't had a bath in awhile, her feet smell like Fritos.
